The buzz around the money you can earn through advertisment is legitimate but having sustainable source of revenue is very rare (that doesn't mean it is not possible) ! As regards the corporations proposing free services on the net : lots of them are actually living on their own capital and haven't been able to earn enough money to depend economically on their Internet services. Creating Facebook application is not an isolated case : it is just an other example of how poeple can be keen on something when it is new !! The fact that many content creator or applocation creator do not earn enough money on the 2.0 web is quite clear.
